Pivoting to a stand-alone game

I decided to abandon the idea of making Temnograd as a GTA:SA mod and instead start learning Godot and make my own game for 2 reasons.

For one - if I'm gonna put so much work into something, it would be good to know that in the end I could sell it.

And the other - Rockstar/Take-Two are kinda hostile towards mod projects and I don't want to risk dealing with that.

The mod was already a monumental task, and making a game is an even greater task, so I'm reducing the scope to something less than GTA:SA and more like GTA III.

I have a lot to learn but don't feel like doing much these days so I'm not sure if it will go anywhere.
